Pirates hold top 2 spots in decathlon

SALEM, Ore. – Whitworth seniors Peter Delap and Stephen Cooper are 1-2 after the first day of the Northwest Conference Multi-Championships at Willamette.

Delap, who finished first in the long and high jumps with a second in the 100-meter dash, leads after five events with 3,552 points. Cooper, who won the shot put and was second in the high jump, has 3,428.

Whitworth’s Christina Dobbins and Emily Moore, both juniors who each had a pair of top-five finishes, are fifth and sixth in the women’s heptathlon with 2,478 and 2,391 points, respectively.
