Expanded Atlanta has become the newest city in Major League Soccer with an expansion franchise that will begin play in 2017. The team will be owned by Arthur Blank, who also owns the NFL’s Atlanta Falcons.

Announced Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer and officials from the Orlando Sports Foundation announced the creation of the Cure Bowl. The game will be held at the Florida Citrus Bowl in December 2015 and feature teams from the American Athletic and Sun Belt conferences. The game will help benefit breast cancer research.

Declared Arizona State point guard Jahii Carson made it official: He’s headed to the NBA. The 5-foot-11 guard was a two-time All-Pac-12 first-team selection and averaged 18.6 points, 4.6 assists and 4.0 rebounds while leading the Sun Devils to the NCAA tournament this year for the first time since 2009.

• UCLA guards Kyle Anderson and Zach LaVine are leaving early for the NBA draft. Anderson averaged 14.6 points, 8.8 rebounds and 6.5 assists this season, closer to a triple-double than any player in the nation. LaVine averaged 9.4 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.8 assists while earning Pac-12 all-freshman honors.

Sold Milwaukee Bucks owner Herb Kohl reached a deal to sell the franchise to New York investment firm executives Marc Lasry and Wesley Edens for about $550 million. Kohl announced the deal at the BMO Harris Bradley Center hours before the team was to play its final game of a dismal season. The deal is subject to approval by the NBA and its Board of Governors.

Revealed An Arizona detective says the DNA of former NFL All-Pro safety Darren Sharper was found in an examination of one of two women who accuse him of drugging and sexually assaulting them last year at a Tempe apartment.

Injured Golfer Jason Day has a cast on his left hand to immobilize his injured thumb and isn’t expected to return to competition until The Players Championship in three weeks. Day injured his thumb while winning the Match Play Championship in late February.
