Obituary: Kivett, Hazel

KIVETT, Hazel Hazel Lee Burginyon Kivett, 85, said goodbye to these earthly chores and went Home on April 15, 2014, leaving a legacy of love, support and Christian influence to her children, extended family, and friends.

Hazel was a graduate of Rogers High School and grew up in the Minnehaha district of Spokane.

After her marriage to Harry L. Kivett, they made their home in the Spokane Valley, where they raised their family.

Hazel enjoyed cooking for her family and friends and also camping with her family.

She was a homemaker and long-time member of Pines Baptist Church in Spokane Valley.

She spent the last few years in Elk, WA, with her daughter, Gayle, and family, enjoying a quiet country life.

Hazel passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, a victim of Alzheimer’s.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Harry L. Kivett, and parents, Alphonse and Verna Burginyon of Spokane Valley.

She is survived by her children, Verna Marie McCarthy (Charlie) of Spokane, Daniel Grammer (Brenda) of Louisiana, Harry Steven Kivett, Spokane, and Gayle McCoul (Scottie), Elk, WA; brother, Gary Burginyon (Sheila), Livermore, CA; and sister, Shirlene Brouillet, Gig Harbor, WA.

She is also survived by eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will take place Saturday, April 19th from 5-7pm at Hazen & Jaeger Valley Funeral Home, 1306 N. Pines Rd., Spokane Valley, WA, with additional visitation on Monday, April 21st from 11am until the Funeral Service begins at 1:00pm at the same location.

The family would like to thank Hospice of Spokane and Allen’s Adult Family Home II and staff for the loving care they provided for our mother in the last few months or her life.
