White House mum on booting Justin Bieber

From Wire Reports

The White House has two words for those who want President Barack Obama to deport Justin Bieber: no comment.

Nearly 275,000 people signed an Internet petition calling the Canadian-born teen idol reckless and asking Obama to revoke his green card. That’s far more than required to merit an official response through the White House’s “We the People” program.

The White House said it’s sorry to disappoint, but it won’t be commenting. It’s citing a caveat that lets the White House decline to address certain petitions.

Spencer moving to ‘GMA’ anchor desk

ABC has promoted Lara Spencer to co-host status on “Good Morning America.”

Spencer, the lifestyle anchor since returning to the show in 2011, now has billing parity with Robin Roberts and George Stephanopoulos.

She was the show’s national correspondent from 1999 to 2004. Then, for seven years, she was a host of “The Insider.”

Her promotion comes as “GMA” continues to beat NBC’s “Today” show in the ratings, but after it recently lost two members of its team: Sam Champion and Josh Elliott.

The other current members of the “GMA” family are Amy Robach and Ginger Zee.

This week, “GMA” welcomed Michael Strahan, a co-host of the daily “Live with Kelly and Michael,” as a contributor.

Sidelined Cyrus rescheduling tour

Miley Cyrus is postponing her U.S. tour while she recovers from an allergic reaction to antibiotics but will resume her performances in August.

Cyrus’ representative said Friday that the singer will resume the U.S. tour Aug. 1 in Uniondale, N.Y. The new dates will include seven rescheduled shows and two additional stops.

The European leg of the tour is still scheduled to kick off May 2 in Amsterdam.

Cyrus’ rep says the singer suffered from a sinus infection last week during her “Bangerz” tour and had “an extreme allergic reaction” to the antibiotic cephalexin on Tuesday. Cyrus canceled several shows this week as a result.

The actor tweeted Friday that his son was born Thursday, adding a photo of the baby’s tiny hand gripping his finger. Elba’s girlfriend, Naiyana Garth, gave birth.

It’s the second child for the star of “Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom.” The 41-year-old Elba also has an 11-year-old daughter from a previous relationship.
