Obituary: Hunt, Joe E.

Age 92

HUNT, Joe E. (Age 92) Joseph Eldridge Hunt passed away February 10, 2014 at Sullivan Park Care Center in Spokane after suffering from COPD and dementia.

He was born July 31, 1921 in Seville, Georgia, to Jineral and Pearl (Wofford) Hunt.

His family eventually settled in Boise, where he graduated from Boise High School.

He served honorably in the Army of the United States from October 1942 to June 1944.

Joe was a long-time resident of Spokane Valley where he met Agatha “Aggie” Cecilia Biermeyer on the eve of July 4, 1949 and married her on December 24th of that year.

They had two daughters.

Aggie passed away on December 4, 1970.

Joe later married Virginia Catherine Dawson Murray in 1974 and she died in 1999.

Joe worked three jobs when his daughters were growing up, eventually retiring from the U.S. Post Office.

He also bought and sold properties and cars that he repaired.

He even traded a truck to get a horse for his youngest daughter.

Joe loved children and enjoyed traveling, spending many years traversing the country in his motorhome after retiring from the Post Office.

Joe was predeceased by his daughter, Jeannie and his brother, Rex.

He is survived by one daughter, two step-daughters, his sister, Margaret Hayden, several nieces and a nephew.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, April 24, 2014, at 2:15 PM, at the Washington State Veterans Cemetery in Medical Lake.
