Madge was born in Mullan, Idaho and raised in Wallace, Idaho where she married Earl and had daughter Sandra Jackson of Duvall, WA and son Dennis Mithaug of Sun City Center, Florida.
Madge was a devoted wife and mother sacrificing so much to give her children music and dance opportunities from their early years through high school and beyond.
She was also a pioneering woman entrepreneur in the early 50s, running her very successful clothing store in Osburn, Idaho from 1952 to 1956 - Madge’s Ladies and Childrens Wear.
After moving to Spokane Valley in 1957 Madge continued her career in retail merchandising, serving as women’s clothing buyer for the Bon Marche’ in Spokane.
Upon Earl’s retirement from the Bangor Maine Callahan Mining project in 1980, Madge and Earl divided the first decade of their retirement years between Spokane Valley, WA and Lake Havasu, Arizona where they were surrounded by their many friends and family living throughout the Northwest.
Madge is also survived by her son-in-law John Jackson (Duvall, WA), daughter-in-law Cathleen Mithaug (Sun City Center, Florida), six grandchildren: James (Bellevue, WA), Julia (Landsberg, Germany), Derek (Roseland, New Jersey), Dana (Sun City Center, FL), Deirdre (Bartow, FL), Dustin (Lithia, FL), and eight great-grandchildren: Joline (Landsberg, Germany), Jon (Landsberg, Germany), Emily (Bellevue, WA), Lauren (Roseland, NJ), James (Roseland, NJ), Anna (Roseland, NJ), Zoe (Lithia, FL), and Ronin (Lithia, FL).
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2014 at 2:00pm at Thornhill Valley Chapel, 1400 S. Pines Road, Spokane Valley, WA.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests a donation in Madge’s memory to the Hospice of Spokane.
