Obituary: Morrison, Ruth Alene (Yager)

Age 101

MORRISON, Ruth Alene (Yager) November 23, 1912- April 3, 2014 Ruth was born to M. Harvey and Susie Sarah (Poe) Yager, in Ellensburg, WA.

She joined two older brothers, Murl and Paul Yager.

Both her parents died before Ruth was nine years old, and she was raised by her beloved aunt Hannah and uncle Guy Clearwaters on a small farm on Moran Prairie.

At the age of 22, she married Kenneth Clark Morrison.

They began their family with daughter, Carolyn Ruth, followed by Barbara Jean, George Harvey, Kenneth Clark Jr. (Starr) and Donald Robert, all who survive her.

Ken Sr. died suddenly at the age of 50; Ruth did not re-marry.

She is survived by ten grandchildren: Michael, Richard, Chris, Cathy, and Carol Bryan; Amy, Scott and Laura Morrison; and Cynthia and Peter Houser.

She is survived by 17 great-“grands”: Malaika and Siona Caldwell; Valerie, Kate and Travis Ward; Jacob, Alicia, and Jerry Compton; Joseph and Justin Bryan; Jennifer, Greg, Bailey, Brendyn and Liam Bryan; Jessica Houser; and Jonah Keller, Lorado and Quiddle.

She also is survived by ten “great-great’grands”: Rhya, Milena, Nathan, Kaliber, Jaleigh, Kynlee Jo, Makala and Caden.

Her special friend, LaDon preceded her in death.

Ruth was a kind gracious friend to all.

She had a world of “stories” about her life and her ties to the Cherokee Nation and loved sharing them with everyone.

Her love was felt by all and will live forever in the memories of her family and all who knew her.

A family memorial will be held later.

The family sends a world of thanks to St. Joseph Care Center staff for their loving care.
