Obituary: Parmentier, James J. “Jim”

PARMENTIER, James J.

“Jim” (Age 56) Passed away in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho on April 17, 2014.

Jim was born in Spokane, Washington on December 17, 1957 to Jerome J. and Ruth M. Parmentier and he was raised in Spokane.

The family moved to Coeur d’Alene in 1969, where he lived until his death.

Jim graduated from Coeur d’Alene High School in 1976 and attended the University of Idaho from 1976 to 1980, where he was a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity.

He worked in the automotive parts business at various auto dealerships throughout the Spokane and Coeur d’Alene area including: Dishman Dodge, Tom Addis Dodge, Barton Jeep, and most recently Dave Smith Motors in Kellogg.

Jim was preceded in death by his father, Jerome Parmentier; and his mother, Ruth Parmentier.

Jim is survived by his brother Jerome Parmentier and his wife Madora; niece Rochelle; nephew Stephen; and many special friends.

Jim had a big heart, and his pets were his kids.

Jim loved living on the shores of Lake Coeur d’Alene.

He enjoyed boating, jet-skiing, watching the hydroplane races, and the tranquility and beauty of the lake.

Off the lake he enjoyed collecting classic muscle cars and memorabilia.

Another passion in his life was being involved in the Mason and Shriners organizations.

He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #41 at Rathdrum, Idaho; the Coeur d’Alene Shrine Club; the South Spokane Shrine Club; and the Calam Shriners.

He truly enjoyed riding the Shriner Octacycle in parades throughout the region, including the 4th of July parade in Coeur d’Alene.

Jim will be remembered for his priceless laugh, his zest for life, and his willingness to help anyone at any time.

He was the life of the party and was always set on having a good time.

He made friends everywhere he went.

He had a heart of gold and will be dearly missed by all those whose lives he touched.

At Jim’s request, a private family graveside service will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery in Spokane, Washington.

Jim’s memory may be honored by making a donation to the Shriners Hospital for Children at 911 W. 5th Ave., Spokane, WA, 99201.
