U-Hi’s Parsons in Big Sky golf title hunt

University High School product Kaitlen Parsons is in second place after the second of three rounds at the Big Sky Golf Championships in Chandler, Ariz.

Parsons, who competes for Northern Arizona, followed her even-par 72 with a 74 on Monday. She’s two strokes back of Portland State’s A Ram Choi.

Eastern Washington is in seventh place as a team, 18 strokes behind co-leaders Portland State and Sacramento State. The Eagles’ Hannah Kim and Marissa Borja are part of an eight-way tie for 13th place at 11-over 155.

• The Community Colleges of Spokane women finished in second place and the men in third at the Bigfoot Invitational.

The women finished with a two-day total of 518, nine strokes behind Columbia Basin College. The men finished at 589, 12 strokes back of first-place North Idaho College and four strokes behind Southwestern Oregon Community College.

The women’s medalist was Columbia Basin’s Hope Niedhold, with a two-day total of 160. CCS’ Brigid Rypien (North Central) was five strokes back in second. NIC’s Madison Hauck (166) was third.

NIC’s Angus Montgomery was the medalist for the men at 138. Evan Omelia was the top finisher for CCS, his 143 good for fifth place. Cole Lorenzo was a stroke behind in a tie for sixth, while Zack Spencer tied for 10th with a 147.

Tennis

Gonzaga’s Katie Edwards was selected to the All-West Coast Conference second team Monday.

The junior won 12 matches this year, playing primarily as the No. 2 singles player for GU.

The Zags finished the year with a 9-9 overall record and a 3-5 mark in league and open the WCC Championships on Wednesday as the seventh seed. They will face San Francisco at 3 p.m. in the Barnes Tennis Center in San Diego.

• GU junior Nick Kamisar made the All-WCC men’s honorable mention list. In his first season with the Zags, Kamisar won a team-best 18 matches. The Bulldogs closed the regular-season 9-13 overall and 0-9 in the WCC and will open the WCC tourney against Portland on Wednesday.

College baseball

Gonzaga’s Payden Cawley Lamb is the WCC player of the week. Lamb notched a hit in each of the four games last week, which extended his current hitting streak to eight games.

GSL baseball

Evan Weaver’s RBI double accounted for the lone run in the top of the 10th inning to give Gonzaga Prep a 1-0 Greater Spokane League victory at Shadle Park. Steven Machtolf went the distance for the win, allowing four hits over the 10 innings.
