Jodie Foster announces marriage to Alexandra Hedison
Jodie Foster is a married woman.
The 51-year-old Oscar winner wed girlfriend Alexandra Hedison over the weekend, Foster’s publicist confirmed Wednesday. Jennifer Allen offered no other details.
E! was the first to report that Foster tied the knot with Hedison, a 44-year-old photographer based in Los Angeles.
It’s the first marriage for Foster, who came out publicly in a rambling, heartfelt speech at the 2013 Golden Globe Awards, where she accepted lifetime achievement honors.
Hedison, who was previously linked to Ellen DeGeneres, is also an actress with TV credits including “Nash Bridges” and “The L Word.”
Witness immunity delays Brown trial
Singer Chris Brown’s trial on an assault charge was put on hold for months Wednesday after prosecutors declined to grant immunity to his bodyguard, who would be a key witness in the case.
Brown will remain in custody for the near future after a Los Angeles judge denied a request by the Grammy-winning singer’s attorney to release him from custody while he awaits trial.
Brown’s trial had been set to start in Washington on Wednesday, and Brown’s bodyguard, Christopher Hollosy, had been expected to testify and say that he, not Brown, hit a man outside a hotel in the nation’s capital in October. Hollosy was tried separately and convicted Monday of assault, but he plans to appeal.
Hollosy’s lawyer has said that unless Hollosy is granted immunity, he will not testify until his appeal is over.
A lawyer for Brown said in court Wednesday that could take at least six months. Prosecutors have said it could take a year. No new trial date for Brown was set.
Plea deal possible in Bieber DUI case
Trial was delayed Wednesday until July for pop star Justin Bieber on driving under the influence and other charges after his lawyers asked for more time to examine evidence and discuss whether to accept a possible plea deal.
Bieber attorney Roy Black initially asked for a 60-day delay from the previous May 5 trial date, but Miami-Dade County Judge William Altfield extended the postponement even further to July 7.
“I want to give everyone plenty of time,” Altfield said at a brief hearing.
Bieber was not present.
