Post-dog attack thanks

I was involved in the April 3 pit bull attack that was reported on by The Spokesman-Review. The girl who was attacked is doing well, which makes me feel great, but I also feel great about our community. In addition to my neighbors, complete strangers have gone out of their way to thank me and wish me and her a speedy recovery.

The support from our emergency services – in particular, Canine Officer Dan Lesser, who stayed with me at the hospital until I was stitched up, then drove me home – was exemplary. I just think it says something when tragedy becomes an opportunity for a community to show its true nature, which for Spokane is generosity and caring.
