WSU football will play host to EWU in 2018
PULLMAN – The Washington State football team will host Eastern Washington on Sept. 15, 2018, in Martin Stadium the school announced on Wednesday.
The Eagles will also travel to WSU for a game on Sept. 3, 2016.
“Eastern Washington has built a tremendous program over the years and continuing this series is of great appeal for college football fans throughout the Pacific Northwest,” WSU athletic director Bill Moos said.
The Cougars are 3-0 against the Eagles in the series, including a tight, 24-20 home win in 2012 that was coach Mike Leach’s first victory as the WSU head coach.
The schools first played in 1907 and 1908, with WSU winning the games 46-0 and 73-0, respectively.
Eastern is the first scheduled nonconference opponent for the Cougars in 2018, what is currently scheduled to be the last year of Leach’s contract. However, his contract includes a rollover clause that adds one additional year if both Leach and Moos agree to enact it.
After hosting EWU in 2016, the Cougars will travel to Boise State to take on the Broncos.
