Obituary: Bengson, Elda

Age 96

BENGSON, Elda (Age 96) Of Spokane, died April 11, 2014 in Boise.

She was born May 27, 1917 at Plentywood, Montana, a daughter of Harry and Mary Urquhart.

She was raised in Montana, graduating from Minot Teacher College in Minot, North Dakota.

She met Malcolm Begson, while teaching in Esmond, North Dakota.

They married April 1942.

Malcolm served in the Army during the war and was wounded and upon coming home to the states, he was hospitalized in Spokane.

Elda loved Spokane and they settled there.

Her son’s Brad and Darrell were reared and educated in Spokane.

She taught part-time as a substitute teacher and later worked many years at Crescent Department Store.

She was a long-time member of Messiah Lutheran Church and very active in the church for many, many years.

She was an old-style homemaker.

She kept an immaculate home and was an avid flower gardener.

She is survived by her son, Brad and his wife Sharon Bengson of Boise, son, Darrell and wife Linda Bengson of Nashville, Tennessee; and two granddaughters, Melissa Harris and Johannna Bengson; and one grandson, Joshua Bengson; and three great-grandsons; and two great-granddaughters.

She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, her parents, five brothers and one sister.

A visitation will be held Friday May 2rd, from 10 am to 11 am followed by a funeral service at 11 am, both at Messiah Lutheran Church, 4202 N. Belt Street.

Spokane.

Burial will follow at Fairmont Memorial Park.
