Oil Kings reach WHL finals

EDMONTON – The Edmonton Oil Kings have reached the Western Hockey League championship final for the third consecutive year.

Brett Pollock’s second goal of the game 14:22 into the third period was the winner as the Oil Kings defeated the Medicine Hat Tigers 4-3 on Saturday to win the series 4-1.

The Oil Kings now face the Portland Winterhawks again for the Ed Chynoweth Cup. Edmonton beat Portland for the Cup in 2012, but was beaten in 2013 by the Winterhawks.

Mads Eller, with a short-handed goal, and Edgars Kulda also scored for Edmonton.
