Spotlight: Summer’s Eve tickets go on sale Thursday

Tickets go on sale Thursday for this year’s edition of Mozart on a Summer’s Eve, presented by Connoisseur Concerts.

On July 15 and 16, the lawn east of the Duncan Gardens in Manito Park will come alive with music performed by soprano Phoebe McRae, classical guitarist David Leisner and cellist Zuill Bailey, artistic director of the Northwest Bach Festival. These guests will join the Connoisseur Concerts Ensemble, directed by Verne Windham, in performing works by W.A. Mozart, Manuel de Falla, Heitor Villa Lobos, Franz Schubert and Joaquín Rodrigo.

Tickets for a table seat are $30 a person and include dessert and coffee from Luna restaurant. Picnickers may pull up a lawn chair or a blanket and enjoy the music from the lawn for $10 a person. Tickets will be available through all TicketsWest outlets.

Added show

Coeur d’Alene Summer Theatre will present the music of Andrew Lloyd Weber in a June 14 concert at the Coeur d’Alene Galleries, 213 Sherman Ave., in downtown Coeur d’Alene.

Performers will include CST’s artistic director Jadd Davis, Cody Bray (who was Marius in Civic’s “Les Misérables” last year), Troy Wageman, Opera Coeur d’Alene artistic director Aaron St. Clair Nicholson (a veteran of the Metropolitan Opera), Jenny Shotwell, Kasey Nusbickel and Mary Jo Dugaw.

This is a small venue so seating will be limited. Tickets are $45 and are available by calling (208) 660-2958.

Cheyenne alert

Cheyenne Jackson, the Broadway star who hails from Newport, Wash., will be popping up on TV this week as a guest star on “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.”

The episode, “Kitty,” will air at 10 p.m. Wednesday on KREM. It also will feature Patricia Arquette as an FBI cyber crimes expert.

This should tide over local fans who are anticipating Jackson’s homecoming concert in Spokane on May 20. Tickets for that are on sale now through TicketsWest.

Panida grant

The Panida Theater in Sandpoint has won a $5,000 grant from Idaho Heritage Trust to aid in restoration of the historic theater’s interior plaster walls and ceiling. A $15,000 grant from IHT last year, combined with this new award, will allow for installation of a new sprinkler system and restoration of walls and the ceiling in conjunction with that work. The project will begin next summer.
