In brief: Suspect in two Saturday robbery attempts jailed

From Staff Reports

An attempted armed robbery suspect was quickly apprehended by Spokane police Saturday night, and he’s suspected of attempting a similar crime earlier that night.

Joshua J. Roullier, 24, was arrested and booked into the Spokane County Jail on one count of first-degree robbery. Police found him in a camper behind the Safeway at 2507 W. Wellesley Ave. Roullier allegedly attempted to rob the store at about 10 p.m.

Witnesses said the suspect attempted to take alcohol from the store and displayed a handgun when confronted by store security.

Roullier also matched the description of a suspect who allegedly attempted to steal alcohol and displayed a handgun about 9:30 p.m. at Walgreens at 1708 W. Northwest Blvd. The man had fled that store before officers arrived.

Spokane police major crimes detectives believe Roullier may be responsible for both crimes.

Spokane police officers responded just before 5 p.m. Sunday to an attempted armed robbery at a Fred Meyer store at 400 South Thor St.

The suspect displayed a handgun to a cashier and fled on foot, witnesses told police.

The suspect was described as a black male in his mid-to-late 40s, wearing a gray hoodie and blue pants.

A police K-9 unit was called to the scene to attempt to track the suspect, police said.
