Drive Thru Finals comes to GU

Nothing goes together like free food and college kids.

Throw a new car into the equation during finals week, and you’ve got one heckuva study break.

Gonzaga University students can make a fast-food run for a free meal in one of Chevrolet’s newest vehicles today and Thursday. Drive Thru Finals, sponsored by Chevrolet and the Gonzaga Student Body Association, runs from 6 to 10 both nights.

It’s the first time the event is coming to GU and Spokane.

And it’s only the second time it’s being held in Washington. The first took place two years ago at the University of Washington in Seattle.

Students don’t get to do the driving. They’ll be chauffered on a first-come, first-served basis to nearby eateries in one of these vehicles: Corvette Stingray, Silverado, Tahoe or Volt.

In addition to free food, they’ll also be treated to sunglasses and finals gear, like pencils and blue book exam booklets.

Organizers expect anywhere from 500 to 800 students to attend the two-day event, which happens at DeSmet Circle on the GU campus, 502 E. Boone Ave.
