Sandbox Sewing - Every Tuesday at 9 a.m. in August will be open sewing for anyone who wants to start or finish their projects. Donations of fabric and other sewing supplies are appreciated. Mother/Daughter Craft Retreat Weekend - This three-day, two-night craft retreat is for moms and daughters, age 8-18, to do together. “Connections” Art andTextile Quilt Show - Lots of great prizes will be awarded. Special guest will be senior vice president of Janome of America, Randy Thomas. Linda Anderson is the featured quilter. North Idaho Fair and Rodeo - Aug. 20-24. This year’s theme is “Summer’s Best Tradition.” The fair offers live music, carnival rides and games, food vendors, arts and crafts, livestock, contests and community exhibits. Spokane County Interstate Fair 2014 - Sept. 5-14 This year’s theme is “Ridin’, Rockin’ and Livestockin’.” Live music, animals, exhibits, amusement rides, food and much more. Paws in the Pool - Aug. 24-25. On Sunday, dogs weighing up to 59 pounds can swim from 1 to 2:15 p.m.; dogs weighing 60 pounds or more can swim from 2:30 to 3:45 p.m. On Monday, dogs weighing up to 59 pounds can swim from 4:30 to 5:45 p.m.; dogs weighing 60 pounds or more can swim from 6 to 7:15 p.m. Dogs must be 6 months or older and you must bring current vaccination record. Walk in the Park - The SCRAPS Walk in the Park is a pledge walk to raise funds for the SCRAPS Hope Foundation Animal Medical Fund, which provides medical treatment, enrichment and care for homeless animals in our area. To enter, you can register online at ScrapsHopeFoundation.org or the day of the event. Then collect pledges from friends, family and coworkers to help support the animals in our care. Turn in your pledges sheet and pledges at the event or to the shelter by Sept. 29 to be eligible for prizes. Saving a Life is a Walk in the Park at the SCRAPS Dog Walk.
