No smile for campaign mailing

I just received a very smiley, glossy, oversized postcard from Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers. It was so full of the usual misrepresentations of what she actually does that I was taking it to the trash bin when I noticed something that really made me cringe. This expensive document was “prepared, published and mailed at taxpayer expense.” Isn’t this the very government she hates so much that she voted to shut it down? It was delivered by the U.S. Postal Service, which she wants to junk, and paid for with taxes collected by the “evil” Internal Revenue Service.

How many times has Cathy voted to repeal the Affordable Care Act? She supports the Rep. Paul Ryan budget, which would voucherise Medicare. Lord only knows what she has actually done for veterans. Yet, she wants us to believe that she really cares about health care for seniors and veterans. I am both, and Cathy doesn’t give a fig about people like me. She doesn’t have to, so long as she can get free money to send junk mail like this. Too bad it’s inedible because then it would have some actual value. Just thinking about her gives me indigestion. How many times will voters be fooled?
