Senate blocks legislation

Like many uninformed voters, Margaret Schmidt (“Congress does nothing,” Aug. 12) should get her facts straight. Anyone who thinks the House of Representatives “has failed to pass anything of substance” needs to look no further than Sen. Harry Reid, Senate majority leader and full-time obstructionist.

The House has passed 352 bills awaiting action from good ol’ Harry. Of those bills passed by the House, 98 percent passed with bipartisan support, 70 percent had a minimum of two-thirds majority, and 50 percent had no opposition. Stop blaming the House for Reid’s political tricks! He’s a little, old man who’s in way over his head and is drunk with power.
