2. D. Research scientists at WSU have developed a forecasting model that can predict air pollution. It creates forecasts for different types of pollutants. Predictions are found on the AIRPACT website.

3. C. Washington screens newborns for “bubble boy disease,” which leaves babies highly vulnerable to infections. Early detection and treatment dramatically increase survival rates.

4. C. Avista’s $13.5 million renovation of Post Falls Dam will give the 1906 structure new gates in the south channel that can be controlled electronically.

5. C. Canna Con is the state’s first exhibition for its blossoming marijuana business. Accessories for growing, packaging and using pot were displayed, but no product was at the show.
