Spokane Valley marijuana business burgled

A mother and her son were arrested Saturday after reportedly breaking into a marijuana business in the 12900 block of East Indiana Avenue in Spokane Valley. Shortly before 1:30 a.m. a Spokane Valley police officer noticed a man standing near the business in the shadows with his face concealed by a hoodie. When the officer parked at the nearby STA park and ride lot to watch the man, he noticed a silver car with a woman slouched down in the driver’s seat as if she was trying to hide, according to a police press release. The officer watched the man approach the business and enter it through a partially open roll up door. He then came outside carrying several marijuana plants and ran toward to the silver car with the woman behind the wheel. Police arrested Jonathan McElroy, 24, on a charge of second-degree burglary. His mother, 45-year-old Sherri Melton, is facing charged of second-degree burglary and possession of methamphetamine.
