Hops outlast Indians
HILLSBORO, Ore. – Jordan Parr’s two-out RBI double in the 14th inning Wednesday night gave the Hillsboro Hops a 2-1 Northwest League victory over the Spokane Indians.
The Hops improved to 5-1 against the Indians this season and 17-9 in the second half, good for first place in the South. Spokane, the first-half champion of the North, dropped to 10-16 in the second half.
Juremi Profar’s RBI single in the fourth inning gave the Indians a 1-0 lead that held up until the eighth. Reliever David Perez gave up a solo home run to the first batter he faced, Elvin Soto.
The loss spoiled a strong performance by Spokane starter Nick Gardewine, who allowed just two hits over seven innings. He struck out eight and didn’t walk a batter.
The second game of the five-game series is tonight at 7:05.
