Obituary: Schieche, Elaine (Drake)

Age 63

SCHIECHE, Elaine (Drake) (Age 63) Passed away peacefully on August 20, 2014 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Her loving family was at her side.

Elaine was born to Robert W. and Virginia Sue Drake on March 31, 1951 in Fresno, California.

As a young girl Elaine lived on the family farm in Arizona and attended grade school in Litchfield Park.

The family moved to their Benewah County, Idaho farm in 1965 where she attended Liberty High School in Spangle, Washington.

It was there that she met the love of her life, John Schieche.

The two were married in Fairfield, WA on September 26, 1969.

Their daughter Alissa was born on September 1, 1974.

Elaine was employed as a surgery assistant and office manager in the oral surgery profession during her 27-year career.

After being diagnosed with cancer in 2011 she volunteered at North Star Lodge - Cancer Treatment Center in Yakima, where she worked to make a significant difference in the lives of others.

Elaine loved all animals especially chickens, dogs, cats and horses.

As a little girl she had her own “herd” of stick horses.

Her passion for horses was shared with her husband John.

They raised quarter horses and enjoyed competing in team penning and ranch sorting.

She loved to camp out with the horses and take riding trips in the Washington’s wilderness areas and scenic beaches.

Elaine loved music and was an accomplished flute player.

She performed with the Bremerton Symphony for a number of years while living in Silverdale, WA.

Elaine is survived by her loving husband John, daughter Alissa Schieche, “precious” grandson Jaylin, son-in-law Kendrick Tippler, her mother Virginia Sue Drake, sister Susan (Dick) Akin, brother Wayne (JoAnn) Drake, mother-in-law Lorna Schieche, brother-in-law Jerry (Patty) Schieche, sisters-in-law Gayle (Jim) Jansen, Janet (Jay) Smith.

Memorial contributions can be made in the name of Elaine Schieche to North Star Lodge, Cancer Treatment Center, in care of Brookside Funeral Home, P.O.

98936 A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 23, 2014 at the Brookside Funeral Home in Moxee, WA.

A Graveside Service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at the Spangle Cemetery in Spangle, Washington with a reception following at the Spangle Service Club.
