Golf: Scott Dunlap leads the Boeing Classic in Snoqualmie, Washington, after his second-round 9-under-par 63 on Saturday.

Dunlap, in his first full season on the Champions Tour, birdied five of his final seven holes for a two-day 12-under 132 at the TPC Snoqualmie Ridge course.

He leads by one stroke over Doug Garwood, who shot a 6-under 66 for a two-round 11-under 133.

Tommy Armour III and Mark Brooks are tied for third at 9-under 135.

Fred Funk, Woody Austin and Joe Durant are tied at 8-under 136, four behind the leader.

Six of the top seven players are seeking their first Champions Tour victory.

• Day, Furyk tied for lead: Jim Furyk was steady. Jason Day was wild. Both wound up with a share of the lead going into the final round of The Barclays in Paramus, New Jersey.

Day lost his golf ball in a mound of high grass and took a double bogey on the par-5 13th. He also took four shots to get down from a bunker on the par-5 17th for a bogey. But the Australian made enough birdies for a 3-under 68.

Furyk played bogey-free Saturday at Ridgewood for a 69 and joined Day in the lead at 9-under 204.

But the final round of this opening FedEx Cup playoff event was wide open. Hunter Mahan made bogey on the last hole for a 68 and was one shot behind. Fifteen players were separated by just three shots.

• Munoz moves up: Azahara Munoz shot a 9-under 63 to move into a tie for second place at the Canadian Women’s Open in London, Ontario.

Despite Munoz tying the course record at London Hunt and Country Club to get to 16 under, leader So Yeon Ryu still leads the tournament by four strokes going into the final round.

Ryu has 21 birdies and just one bogey in her first three rounds to move to 20 under and within range of the LPGA record of 26 under.

Catchings leads Fever past Mystics

WNBA: Tamika Catchings had 26 points and 11 rebounds as the Indiana Fever defeated the Washington Mystics 81-76 in Washington to sweep the best-of-3 series and advance to the Eastern Conference finals.

Catchings’ 3-pointer with 1:34 remaining in overtime put the Fever ahead for good, 75-74. On that basket, she surpassed Lisa Leslie as the WNBA’s all-time leading scorer in the postseason.

Lewis and Clark High School graduate Briann January scored 13 points for Indiana. Her two free throws with 19.7 seconds remaining in regulation tied the game at 66.

• Lynx oust Stars: Lindsay Whalen scored 31 points, and the Minnesota Lynx beat the San Antonio Stars 94-89 to advance to the Western Conference finals and end the playing career of San Antonio’s Becky Hammon.

Seimone Augustus scored 21 points and Maya Moore had 16 for Minnesota, which won the series 2-0.

Hammon, who is retiring after 16 seasons in the WNBA, had 12 points and four assists in her final game.

Kvitova wins second Connecticut Open

Tennis: Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova beat Magdalena Rybarikova of Slovakia 6-4, 6-2 in New Haven, Connecticut, to win her second Connecticut Open title in the past three years.

The No. 4 player in the world also won at New Haven in 2012 before losing in last year’s final to Simona Halep. She did not drop a set this week.

• Rosol victorious: Lukas Rosol of the Czech Republic rallied from a set down to beat Poland’s Jerzy Janowicz 3-6, 7-6 (3), 7-5 to win the Winston-Salem Open men’s singles title in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

The seventh-seeded Rosol won his second career ATP Tour title and his first this year.

Van Garderen extends lead

Cycling: Tejay van Garderen of BMC Racing moved a big step closer to defending his USA Pro Challenge title by setting a course record in the time trial in Vail, Colorado.

The 26-year-old Van Garderen zipped through the 10-mile course that included a climb up Vail Pass in 24 minutes, 26 seconds, breaking the mark he set last year.

Van Garderen has a 1:32 second advantage over Tom Danielson of Team Garmin-Sharp heading into the final stage.

The weeklong competition ends in downtown Denver today.

Van Garderen entered the day with a 20-second lead over Rafal Majka of Tinkoff-Saxo, but Majka finished 1:29 back in the time trial.

• Movistar wins team time trial: Movistar won the team time trial to start the Spanish Vuelta in Jerez, Spain, giving Nairo Quintana an early edge over the other candidates to win the three-week grand tour.

Movistar was the last team to start on the 7.8-mile course in the southern city of Jerez, but beat the leading time by 6 seconds to finish in 14 minutes, 13 seconds.

Alberto Contador’s Tinkoff-Saxo was 19 seconds off Movistar’s pace. Chris Froome’s Sky was 27 seconds behind, while Joaquin Rodriguez’s Katusha was 38 seconds slower.

Biles easily defends gymnastics title

Miscellany: Simone Biles easily captured her second straight U.S. women’s gymnastics national title in Pittsburgh, setting the stage for an even bigger title defense in China this fall.

The 17-year-old from Texas posted a two-day total of 122.550, more than four points clear of Kyla Ross.

Biles did little to tamp down expectations as she takes aim at another world title in October. She entered the night with a sizable lead over the small field and poured it on. Biles posted the highest scores on floor exercise and vault and the second-highest on balance beam during a meet that seemed more like a coronation.

Ross, the lone member of the 2012 gold medal-winning U.S. Olympic team currently in competition, recovered from a tough first day to finish runner-up to Biles for the second straight year.

• Bolt wins 100: Usain Bolt ran a 100-meter race in under 10 seconds for the first time this year, clocking 9.98 for a comfortable victory at the Kamila Skolimowska Memorial in Warsaw, Poland.

Bolt’s season has been disrupted by a foot injury and he used the minor meet as a warmup for the Diamond League meeting in Zurich on Thursday.

• Kansas City blanks Portland: Amy Rodriguez and Lauren Holiday scored second-half goals and FC Kansas City beat the defending champion Portland Thorns 2-0 in the National Women’s Soccer League semifinals in Kansas City, Missouri.

Kansas City will face the winner of today’s match between the Washington Spirit and the Seattle Reign FC for the NWSL championship.
