Obituary: Knudtson, Gregry Ray “Fatboy”
Age 62
He was born in Spokane, WA.
Greg attended Mead High School where he played football and went to State as a wrestler.
Upon graduation, he joined the Army and served in Korea as an artilleryman.
He later served in the National Guard as a medic.
He was a volunteer firefighter with Spokane County Fire District 9 prior to becoming a firefighter/paramedic with the Pullman Fire Department.
He retired in June, 2008.
While on the fire department he worked part-time for Spokane Ambulance/AMR as a paramedic.
Following his retirement he went on to work for the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad.
Greg “Fatboy” had a passion for riding motorcycles.
He was a member of the Iron Pigs M/C, whose members are police officers and firefighters.
A member of the Iron Pigs rode Fatboy’s motorcycle back to Spokane and brought his ashes home on his bike.
Greg chose his road name “Fatboy” and that was the name that area riders knew him by.
There are many who say they did not know anyone who rode as much as he did.
He made many trips across the country and would usually stop to visit family in Atlanta.
Greg participated in escort duty with the Patriot Guard to honor the passing of military servicemen and women.
Greg was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Jean.
He is survived by his sister Sharon Halligan; brothers Gary, Jeff and Ronald; sisters-in-law Patty Knudtson, Pam Knudtson, Jane Mizoguchi; nieces Vikki Hart, Dion Knudtson, Kristin Knudtson, Kelly Cowan, Rachel Bright; great-nieces and nephews Ian, Finnegan, Macalister, Shelby, Sean, Piper, Cara, Brandon; nephew-in-law Al Macaulay and his dear friend “Angel Lady” Joyce Kern.
He will be missed by his many cousins.
“Fatboy” made the rounds on his motorcycle, stopping at the Lariat, Illinois, Cheap Shots, Curley’s and Cruizers.
The family would like to thank the staff members and “regulars” for their condolences.
To honor “Fatboy”, there will be a memorial M/C ride on September 6, 2014.
All riders are welcome to attend.
We will leave Cheap Shots Bar located at 6412 E. Trent, Spokane Valley, WA at 1:00 p.m. for a short ride east on Trent Avenue into Idaho and stop at Curley’s for a service.
We will then return to Cheap Shots.
A military service will be held on September 8, 2014 at 9:00 a.m. at the Eastern Washington Veterans’ Cemetery in Medical Lake.
