Obituary: Adolfson, Rae Francis

Age 81

ADOLFSON, Rae Francis Passed peacefully on August 20th, 2014 with her loving husband and four children by her side.

Rae was born January 28th, 1933 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane, Washington to parents Bertha (Tattersall) DuSault and Raymond DuSault.

The eldest of three daughters, Rae was blessed with loving sisters, Marilyn Morse and Diane DuSault.

As a young child, Rae’s family moved to Portland, Oregon and later back to Spokane where she attended Marycliff High School (class of 1951), followed by Holy Names College.

Rae met the love of her life, Robert Dale Adolfson, during her Junior year of high school.

A story book marriage, they created a life many only dream of and shared a love that was unconditional, pure, honest and beautiful.

Married 62 years, Bob and Rae’s life was full of family, extended family, wonderful friends, travel and a small summer home at Deer Lake that brought the family so many good memories and happy times.

They raised four wonderful children: Robert (Kim) Adolfson, Jeannie (Rocky) Cumbie, James (Terri) Adolfson and Laurie (Troy) Johnson.

They have also been blessed with 18 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Bob and Rae are the most amazing parents and this love and dedication to family will continue through their children and grandchildren.

Rae was an amazing mother who always put her children first.

She was always there to listen, guide and nurture all of us.

She had a warm beauty that made you feel safe, loved and protected.

She had this knack that when you were with her you felt like the most important and special person in her life.

Rae taught her daughters how to be good mothers, strong women and loving wives.

She taught her sons to be compassionate, caring and honest.

She loved each of us differently and completely.

How blessed we are to have had such a beautiful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother.

Rae worked for many small local companies, in addition to her #1 profession: wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

These include personal assistant for her husband’s position at Cryovac, an assistant for a real estate attorney, clerk at Herbison’s Pharmacy and at Weight Watchers.

She was a gifted hostess and outstanding cook.

Rae could put together a dinner party with ease, a large gathering on short notice and pull it all together with class and a lot of love.

She seemed to never grow tired and amazed everyone around her at how much she could do in a short period of time.

Rae was not only a beautiful person on the outside, but her beauty inside touched so many.

She will be greatly missed.

A family service will be at Holy Cross Cemetery on September 1st, 2014 at 1:00 pm.

Following the family service, we invite relatives and friends to join in the celebration of Rae’s life to be held at Glover Mansion, 321 W. 8th.

Ave., Spokane, WA at 2:00pm.
