Obituary: Hinkel, Alvin J.

Age 83

HINKEL, Alvin J.

(Age 83) Of Spokane, WA, husband of Elnora (Solomon) Hinkel, passed away on August 15th, 2014, following his battle with cancer.

Alvin was born in Pottstown, PA on September 17, 1930.

He was the son of the late Joseph and Hazel (Arbaugh) Hinkel.

After graduating from Pottstown High School, in 1948, Alvin entered the Air Force, where he learned his trade of being an aviation mechanic.

He retired from Northwest Airlines in WA, after over 40 years of service.

Alvin loved to travel, ski, and he enjoyed photography, especially of any kind of train.

He was an active member of the Inland Empire National Railroad Society.

He loved going back to PA to see the Mummers string bands and to enjoy a Philadelphia cheesesteak and some pretzels.

He was a devoted WSU Cougar football fan, often ending a conversation saying,”Go Cougs!”

He was also a diehard Gonzaga basketball fan.

Alvin enjoyed to laugh and he made friends wherever he went.

In addition to his wife, Alvin is survived by his sister, Nanetta Mathias of Clermont, FL and his niece, Janis, wife of Lawrence Frick Jr. A private memorial service will be held at a later date in Spokane.
