Obituary: Magnuson, Evelyn June (Moore)

Age 98

MAGNUSON, Evelyn June (Moore) (Age 98) Passed away August 16, 2014.

She is survived by son and daughter-in-law Roy H. and Marie E. Magnuson and grand-children Adrian Amsberry, by Lindsay Amsberry and husband John Steffen, and by Bretley Magnuson and wife Kristin Magnuson, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Harvey Magnuson, daughter Janice (Magnuson) Amsberry, and siblings Pearl Overman, Howard Moore, and Roy Moore.

Evelyn was born in Wenatchee, WA, June 24, 1916 to Lee and Trissa Moore.

After graduation from Wenatchee High School, she attended Washington State University and received a degree in Education.

She taught commercial studies for many years at Shadle Park, Rogers, and Lewis and Clark High Schools.

Evelyn was a remarkable woman with great energy and interest in many things.

She earned her way through college by packing apples and waiting tables.

Early-on she developed a lifetime passion for reading.

She and her husband traveled to all the states and much of the world to see the places she read about.

Visits from and to family were greatly enjoyed, especially on Christmas.

Evelyn played bridge, gardened and bowled into her nineties.

She constantly did needlework, including knitting and exquisite needlepoint.

She will be missed.

A family remembrance will be held at a later time.
