Alcohol thefts take big drop at Liberty Lake supermarkets

Only one alcohol theft was reported in Liberty Lake the week of Aug. 18-25, a decrease from the multiple calls in previous weeks.

A woman reportedly told a checkout clerk at the Safeway on Liberty Lake Road that she had forgotten an item and needed to go get it. Instead the woman allegedly placed a bottle of alcohol in her purse before returning to the clerk to say she needed to go outside for more money.

The woman left the store with the alcohol in her purse and did not return.
