Obituary: Salo, Margie A.

SALO, Margie A.

Formerly of Medical Lake, WA went to meet her Lord and Savior August 19th, 2014 in Des Moines, WA after a 10 month battle with cancer.

She was born on January 24th, 1934 in Stanford, MT, the sixth of eight children to Peter and Melba Svetich.

Margie married Charles James Brown in Pennsylvania in 1950.

Five daughters were born of that union.

Char (Rick) Williams of Des Moines, WA.

Dorothy (Rich) Burbank of Okinawa, Japan.

Barbara (Ron) Hayashi of Kauai, HI.

Ginger (Kurt) Hansen of Chinook, MT and Molly (Gary) Baltrusch of Havre, MT.

That marriage ended in 1966.

Margie later married George Salo on October 5th, 1968 in Havre, MT.

From that marriage she was gifted with four step-children.

Jeanne (Lyle) Fuson of Yuma, AZ, Gary (Paulette) Salo of Spokane, WA, Bob (Marian) Salo of Missoula, MT, and Terry (Dianne) Salo of Colville, WA.

Mom possessed a heart full of kindness.

She was surrounded by a large family including many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren that she adored.

She was truly a “play-on-the-floor” loving grammy.

Friends were in abundance!

She loved making and giving cookies as well as that perfect greeting card for every occasion.

Even thru her trials with declining health the cards continued.

She worked for many years in the health care industry where she brought much joy to those in her care.

She retired only seven years ago.

One of her greatest pleasures was exercise and all the fun runs that she and George participated in.

She continued to run the “Bloomsday Race” well into her 60s until her body said “enough”.

Margie was preceded in death by her husband George, all siblings except Jackie (Dave) Moody of Royersford, PA, both parents, one grandson, Douglas Hayashi, and a daughter, Barbara Hayashi.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Medical Lake, WA on Friday, September 19th, 2014 with interment in the Veterans Cemetery also in Medical Lake following.

Donations may be made to the Cancer Society or the charity of choice.

Please come and share your memories of Margie with her family.
