McMorris Rodgers backs immigration measure; foresees action in 2015

U.S. Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers joined almost all her Republican colleagues in supporting the bill Thursday that would nullify portions of President Barack Obama’s executive actions on immigration reform.

“Just because the president didn’t like the timeline, or the fashion in which Congress was addressing immigration reform, doesn’t mean he has the power” to act unilaterally, McMorris Rodgers said.

She said she expects the Republican-led Congress to take up immigration early next year.

“I believe that we need to take action early in 2015 to start moving legislation through the House,” she said.
