CdA girls pull away from Eastmont

After a sluggish start, Coeur d’Alene pulled away and beat Eastmont 62-51 in a nonleague game Saturday in Coeur d’Alene.

Madisen Scholwinski did everything for the Vikings. She had 20 points, 13 rebounds, nine blocks, four assists and four steals.

Coeur d’Alene (3-1) trailed by two points after the first quarter, but outscored Eastmont 22-8 in the second quarter. Emily Callahan made 8 of 14 free throws and chipped in 19 points for Coeur d’Alene.

South Salem 84, Mead 69: The Saxons went ahead by 12 points in the first half and beat the Panthers (2-1) at The Fitz tournament at Lewis and Clark High School. Katie McWilliams had 21 points, six rebounds and two blocks to guide South Salem. Sue Winger scored 17 points and pulled down eight rebounds and Coreen Labish added 16 points for Mead.

Sandpoint 60, Clarkston 55: Madi Schoening made all 19 of her free-throw attempts and finished with 31 points and 12 rebounds as the Bulldogs (3-1) edged the visiting Bantams (1-1). Karlee Williams added 14 points and 11 rebounds for Sandpoint, which outscored Clarkston 18-9 in the fourth quarter to erase a four-point third-quarter deficit. Clarkston’s Jaclyn Meyers tallied a team-high 11 points.

Lake City 52, North Central 37: Lauren Rewers and Whitney Meier each had 10 points and the Timberwolves (4-0) went ahead by 14 points in the first half and beat the host Indians (0-3). Megan Dean tallied a game-high 19 points for North Central.

Post Falls 67, West Valley 39: Melody Kempton made all six of her free-throws and finished with 18 points and eight rebounds to lead the Trojans (4-1) past the host Eagles (0-3). Bayley Brennan added 14 points and six assists for Post Falls. West Valley was led by Erin Higbie’s 16 points.

Richland 43, Shadle Park 32: The Bombers took a seven-point lead into the fourth and held on to beat the visiting Highlanders (0-3). Shyla Carr tallied a game-high 20 points for Shadle Park.

Colfax 56, Deer Park 23: Andra Hamilton had 10 points and Amara Huber added eight points and six boards as the Bulldogs (1-0) routed the visiting Stags (0-2).

Cheney 49, Freeman 37: Brette Draper and Katie McGourin combined for 21 points and the Blackhawks (1-2) used a 15-5 third-quarter run to beat the visiting Scotties. Sydney Sather posted a game-high 12 points for Freeman (0-2).

Lind-Ritzville/Sprague 60, Columbia (Burbank) 53: Mallory Kessler had 12 points and six steals and Tessa Jantz added 13 points and 12 rebounds as the Broncos (1-0) topped Columbia in Ritzville. Tasha Idler led Columbia with 17 points.

Northwest Christian 60, Medical Lake 34: Courtney Gray had 16 points and 14 rebounds and Mackenzi Gray added 16 points and 11 boards as the Crusaders (2-0) routed the host Cardinals (0-1). Maleeka Wagner had 10 points and 13 rebounds for Medical Lake.

Springdale 50, Columbia 18: Emily Smith had 13 points and Nichole Beckman grabbed 10 rebounds as the Chargers (3-0) overwhelmed the visiting Lions (0-1). Springdale forced 38 turnovers. Wellpinit 48, Cusick 34: Jada Colvin scored eight of her game-high 13 points in the decisive third quarter and the Redskins (2-0) topped the Panthers (0-1) at the Wellpinit tournament in Wellpinit. Andreya Colvin added 12 points for Wellpinit. Brianna Balcom led Cusick with 11 points.

Kettle Falls 67, Tonasket 34: Erin Johnson scored a game-high 25 points and the Bulldogs (2-1) dominated from the get-go in a win over the host Tigers. Daisy Hamilton added 12 points and 11 rebounds and Makayla Hall chipped in 13 points, five rebounds and five steals for Kettle Falls.

Wilbur-Creston 37, Odessa-Harrington 31: Ireland Corrigan led a balanced scoring attack with seven points and the Wildcats (2-0) dominated through three quarters in a win over the visiting Titans (0-2). Trailing 30-8 after the third, Odessa-Harrington went on a 23-7 run to end the game, falling just short.

Valley Christian 62, Northport 18: Hannah Fields had 16 points and 10 rebounds as the Panthers (1-1) dumped the visiting Mustangs (0-2). Valley Christian opened the game on a 22-4 run.

Dayton 60, Liberty 51: The Bulldogs opened the game on an 11-2 run and held on to beat the host Lancers (0-1). Shayla Currin led Dayton with 21 points. Liberty was led by Christine Denny’s 24 points and six assists.

Oroville 62, Curlew 36: Mikayla Scott scored 20 points to guide the Hornets past the host Cougars (0-2). Kayleona Fanning finished with nine points for Curlew.

Almira/Coulee-Hartline 35, Davenport 33: The Warriors (1-1) made 11 fourth-quarter free throws, with five coming from Reinnee Rockett, and edged the Gorillas (1-1) in Coulee City. Berlyn Hunt led ACH with 13 points and Rockett had seven.

Priest River 41, Riverside 18: Katlyn Summers had 16 points and 12 rebounds and the Spartans (2-0) dumped the visiting Rams (0-2). After a competitive, low-scoring first quarter, Priest River outscored Riverside 15-4 in the second to take a 16-point halftime lead.
