Obituary: Mendez, Michael Gabriel

Age 23

Michael Gabriel Mendez (Age 23) Passed away suddenly on October 23rd, 2014 in Oxnard, California.

Michael was born August 30th, 1991 in Yakima, Washington.

We adopted Michael just a month shy of his third birthday.

It was a very special moment for us.

He was quiet and shy but soon blossomed in his new home and new life.

He attended St. John Vianney Catholic School where he was a member of Boy Scout Troop 431.

Michael graduated from Spokane Valley High School in 2010.

He participated in sports from elementary to high school.

He was always the smallest boy on the team, but always one of the most gifted.

He excelled in sports, especially in basketball and baseball.

Michael was kind, compassionate and caring, and above all, a loving son.

He worked for the family business.

Michael started working at the age of six by putting labels on salsa containers and eventually learned to make all the products that the business manufactured.

He was an excellent asset to our business.

Michael always talked about taking Salsa Mendez to the next level.

We recently found out that Michael had a beautiful singing voice.

Michael is survived by his mother Margie, father Gabriel, sister Daniela, grandmother Maria Elena Marin, son Bentley, and a large extended family.

His grandmother Mireya Mendez followed Michael in death five days later.

Services were held in Camarillo, California on October 26th, 2014.
