Work continues on CdA school

A new elementary school going up in Coeur d’Alene is about one-third completed.

Winton Elementary School is being rebuilt about four blocks south of Kootenai Health near Northwest Boulevard. The $7.27 million project is scheduled to be finished by Aug. 1, 2015, in time for classes next fall.

The original Winton – at 90 years old, the oldest in the Coeur d’Alene School District – was torn down on the same spot.

During the yearlong project, the 320 students and 24 staff members have relocated five miles north to the former Hayden Lake Elementary.

TW Clark Construction of Spokane is the general contractor.

New car wash to open in CdA

Metro Express Car Wash is taking shape on U.S. Highway 95 in Coeur d’Alene, between Natural Grocers and Aspen Sound. The walls are up on the 9,000-square-foot building to be finished in April. It includes a 225-foot-long tunnel, said Josh Horvath, project manager with Young Construction Group, the general contractor.

The $1.6 million car wash will include a water reclamation system and biodegradable detergents, as well as free vacuum stations.

Owner Bill Martin of Eagle, Idaho, founded Metro Express Car Wash in Boise in 2004 and expanded into Meridian and Nampa before selling all three locations in 2013. Martin also started the Nu-Look car wash chain in Spokane in the 1990s.

Rosauers opens in Suncrest

Spokane’s Rosauers has opened a new Suncrest store, making it the 22nd supermarket operated by the company in the region.

The store, at Highway 291 and Swensen Road, cost more than $3.1 million to build and will employ 50. The 32,000-square-foot building includes a pharmacy, full-service meat and seafood counter, bakery and a deli with a Wi-Fi seating area.

Rosauers has also added a vehicle gas station, the company’s first fuel service option for its customers.
