Close Guantanamo

For almost 55 years, I have mentioned that Guantanamo Bay was illegal. I have written to every president since Johnson to urge that it be closed. I’m glad to learn that the United Nations has finally agreed.

Every president, secretary of state and defense, and attorney general in the administrations it existed under should be held accountable. The pardons of each president for those who permitted it to exist should be overturned.

Guantanamo ranks with the Bastille in its ignominy. It should face the same fate.
