Nebraska upsets No. 3 Washington at NCAA volleyball

Nebraska rallied after dropping the first set and stunned third-seeded Washington in the third round of the NCAA volleyball tournament at Alaska Airlines Arena Friday in Seattle. Scores were 20-25, 25-20, 25-22 and 29-27.

Cecilia Hall and Kadie Rolfzen had 14 kills apiece for the 14th-seeded Cornhuskers (23-9), who will play BYU in the Elite Eight today. The Cougars advanced with a 3-1 win over Florida State.

Washington senior Krista Vansant led the Huskies with 15 kills and 16 digs. Kaleigh Nelson added 10 kills and Cassie Strickland chipped in 17 digs for the Huskies.

Washington, which fell to eventual champion Penn State in last year’s Final Four, finished the season with a 31-3 record.
