Sunny Greinacher’s 18 points helps Gonzaga women get past Wyoming

Sunny Greinacher made 8 of 11 shots and finished with 18 points and four assists as Gonzaga opened the second half on a 14-2 run and coasted past Wyoming 70-56 in a nonconference women’s basketball game Friday night in Laramie, Wyoming.

The win was the Bulldogs’ third in their past four games.

GU’s Emma Wolfram added 13 points and Elle Tinkle chipped in 11 points and six rebounds.

Gonzaga’s lead ballooned to 25 points midway through the second half. The Bulldogs (6-3) shot 55 percent from the floor and held a 37-20 rebounding advantage.

Marquelle Dent had 19 points and six assists for Wyoming (5-4), but the Cowgirls struggled offensively, making just 19 of 49 shots from the floor, including 4 of 18 3-pointers.

Gonzaga plays at Northwestern in Evanston, Illinois, on Monday before returning to Spokane for a four-game homestand.

• Eastern Washington took control with a 17-4 run to end the first half and the Eagles soared past Saint Martin’s 69-39 in a nonconference game at Reese Court in Cheney.

Lexie Nelson led four Eagles in double figures with 23 points.

The Saints (2-7) were held without a field goal in the first 12 minutes and made only 3 of 19 shots in the first half.

Hayley Hodgins scored 12 points for EWU (4-3). Jade Redmon and Delaney Hodgins each added 11.

• Aurorah Davis led three players in double figures with 18 points and added seven rebounds as CC Spokane overwhelmed Edmonds (1-3) in a 91-33 win at the Everett Classic.

The Sasquatch forced 24 turnovers, which led to a 30-1 advantage in points off turnovers. Jaida Burgess and Gese Gruber both had 14 points for CCS (3-3).

Men’s basketball

Race Martin scored 30 points on 11-of-21 shooting and grabbed nine rebounds to guide CC Spokane (7-2) past Lower Columbia (4-3) 97-87 in the opening round of the Bates Invitational at Lane CC in Eugene.

CCS (7-2) made 20 of 23 second-half free throws to hold off a potential comeback.

Dean Richey (18), Jacob DeVries (16), Orin Porter (15) and Jake Love (14) also scored in double figures for CCS.

Junior hockey

Kurtis Redding’s overtime goal lifted the Spokane Braves (16-13-0-3, 35 points) to a 2-1 win over the Kimberley Dynamiters (15-12-1-3, 34) in a KIJHL game at Eagles Ice-A-Rena in Spokane.

Dillon Bogart scored in regulation for the Braves – a power-play goal in the second period.
