Man identified in Hamilton Street bridge crash

The man injured after crashing his car into a barrier Tuesday evening has been identified as Randel C. Bocook, 53. Bocook’s car struck a barrier on the off-ramp at the Second Avenue exit from state Highway 290 shortly after 8 p.m. Tuesday evening. He was ejected from the car and transported to Sacred Heart Medical Center, where he is in serious condition. There were no witnesses to the crash, but the first observers on scene came upon a massive debris field. Many assumed the car had fallen from the Highway 290 bridge leading from Hamilton Street to I-90, said Washington State Patrol Sgt. Gabe Olson. Alcohol and speed likely were factors in the crash, Olson said. Bocook will be charged with driving under the influence. It is not known whether he was wearing a seat belt.
