Roundup: Big Second half carries Gonzaga Prep

Kea Vargas scored 12 points, all from behind the 3-point line, and Gonzaga Prep used a 35-18 second half to close out Lake City 58-43 in a nonleague boys basketball game at Mt. Spokane High School on Wednesday.

Vargas had the hot hand, shooting 4 for 5 from long range. Teammate Logan Adams added 12 points for the Bullpups.

Nick Hancock led the Timberwolves with 15 points, 12 in the first half, when Lake City took a 25-23 lead into the half.

Pullman 57, Lewiston 42: Micah Lagerquist scored 21 points and the Greyhounds defeated the visiting Bengals. Lewiston’s Dakota Jackson led all scorers with 25 points.

Asotin 62, St. John-Endicott 49: Kolby Blunt scored 21 points, leading the Panthers to the win over the host Eagles. Blunt was 2 for 6 from the 3-point line. Adam Blakely went 7 for 10 from the field with two 3-pointers, leading SJE with 18 points.

Liberty 47, Medical Lake 42: Sophomore Christine Denny scored 11 of the Lancers’ 19 second-half points, as host Liberty used a 19-11 second half to defeat the Cardinals. Junior Maggie Nelson added 16 points and 15 rebounds for the Lancers (6-0). Cassidy Hagel led Medical Lake (3-2) with 14 points.

Lewiston 57, Pullman 28: The Greyhounds went on the road and defeated the Bengals. Emilee Schlader had 18 points for Pullman (5-1), going 9 for 18 from the field and doing most of her scoring from the low block. For Lewiston, Emily Drake was the only double-digit scorer, going 5 for 18 from the field for 18 points.

St. John-Endicott 45, Asotin 28: The Eagles had three players with double-doubles as they defeated the Panthers. Rachel Gfeller scored 13 points and grabbed 13 rebounds, and Abby Glorfield had a team high 15 points and 14 rebounds for the Eagles (3-2). Gracie Dickerson had 12 points, 11 rebounds an added six assists for Asotin (2-3). SJE dominated the glass, outrebounding Asotin 55-31.

Priest River 60, Kootenai 27: Katlyn Summers had six rebounds in addition to her 17 points, and Alyssa Carey added eight points and seven steals as the Spartans defeated the visiting Warriors.
