Monday: After the landmark 88-86 win at Indiana on Nov. 24, Eastern coach Jim Hayford, forward Venky Jois and guard Tyler Harvey have received numerous interview requests from national media.

“That’s fine,” Hayford said. “Tyler and Venky are so grounded – I just want to make sure it doesn’t get in the way of their studies.”

The rising attention is a reflection of rising expectations.

“I’m getting to the place where as a program, we’re not taking satisfaction in playing these games close,” Hayford said less than 24 hours after the Eagles let one get away at No. 17 UW.

Tuesday: Cougfan.com is reporting that linebacker Kyahva Tezino has decided to play for WSU over reported scholarship offers from Arizona, Arizona State, Miami, UCLA, Washington and other schools. The linebacker from Salesian High in Los Angeles is regarded as a four-star recruit and will immediately become one of WSU’s most anticipated February signings.

The Cougars may not have publicly announced a defensive coordinator hire yet but whatever they’re telling recruits, it’s working.

Friday: The AFL released the 2015 schedule and Spokane’s first game will be on the road against three-time champion Arizona. The lid-lifter is March 28.

Spokane has three matchups each with Portland, San Jose, Las Vegas and Arizona during the 18-game regular season. Two of the Spokane-Las Vegas games are in Las Vegas.
