Police neutralize dynamite found in forest

From staff reports
Spokane police neutralized several sticks of dynamite found in a forested area off of Government Way Sunday afternoon. Police received a report of dynamite in the area of 1200 N. Government Way around 2 p.m. Sunday, after a person with a metal detector found multiple sticks buried in a metal barrel. Government Way was closed for several hours between West Sand Ridge and Fort George Wright Drive while the Explosive Disposal Unit rendered the dynamite safe. Police spokeswoman Monique Cotton said police are looking into where the dynamite came from, but do not believe any crime was committed.
