Linebacker Tana Pritchard leaves WSU football program

On Tuesday linebacker Tana Pritchard became the second WSU defensive player to leave the program in as many days.

After starting the first three games of the season, Pritchard saw his playing time steadily diminish and ended the year No. 3 on the depth chart at the ‘Wil’ linebacker position.

Pritchard had 23 tackles this season, and made one interception, against Rutgers. But Jeremiah Allison emerged at ‘Wil’ as conference play began and the coaches were reluctant to take him off the field.

He has reportedly already graduated and will have one season to play no matter where he ends up. Cornerback Kevin Griffin, who officially departed WSU on Monday, and linebacker Darryl Monroe have also left the program since the end of the season. But with five junior college defenders in the 2015 recruiting class, the Cougars should be able to plug those holes.

Pritchard played his high school ball at Clover Park in Lakewood, Washington. His father, Dave Pritchard, played at WSU in the early ’80s and his cousin is Jack Thompson.
