Money bought I-594 victory

Don Brockett wrote a common sense letter (Dec. 20) regarding a very vague and politically fueled Initiative 594, with big money from Michael Bloomberg, Bill Gates, Paul Allen, etc., that will not address the problem of firearms getting into the hands of criminals.

As a law-abiding citizen of Washington, I am appalled to have such an initiative as law. I might add that a majority of law enforcement within our state was not in favor of this initiative for the exact reason that you stated.

Again, as in past cases, big money pushed a law that will not stop criminals from acquiring firearms; never has, never will. Their money would be better spent trying to help criminals become law-abiding citizens than to make law-abiding citizens into criminals.
