Obituary: Albertson, Joan W.

Age 76

ALBERTSON, Joan W. Passed away from this life on December 27th, 2014.

Joan was born on the same day in 1938 in Spokane, Washington.

Joan was a devoted wife, sister, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She is survived by her sister Kay Eggleston; daughters Pam Rees (and Mitch) and Julie Albertson; sons David Albertson (and Tabitha) and Paul Albertson; nine grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband and love of her life Richard, and her brother Kenny Thompson.

Joan dedicated her life to her family, and we all treasure memories of her involvement in everything we did.

Her support and love has shaped us all into who we are today.

She loved making happy moments in each day, and cherished her extended family.

She had a deep love for animals, especially for her cats.

In fact, her cats were her life and loves after Richard passed away.

Her happiest moments were working at Heart Arrow Veterinary Service.

She loved camping, traveling, gardening, reading, and genealogy.

She published one book, ‘Letters Home to Minnesota’, detailing the life of ancestor D. B. Griffin, and authored a second one ‘A Gift of Love’.

There will be a public viewing at the Thornhill Valley Chapel, 1400 S. Pines Road, Spokane Valley, between 11:30 and 12:30 on Friday, January 2nd; followed by a memorial at 1:00 pm.

Interment at South Pines Cemetery will follow the memorial.

The family requests donations in lieu of flowers be made in Joan’s name to the Spokane County Regional Animal Protection Service, the Spokane Valley Food Bank, or Paralyzed Veterans of America.

We love you Mom, and are so blessed to know you got to dance with Dad on your birthday.
