Obituary: Dolan, Donald

Age 83

DOLAN, Donald 2/23/1930 - 1/28/2014 Don lived his entire life in Spokane.

He was married to the love of his life, Dorothy, for 61 years.

Together they had nine children, 12 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.

He was a member of St. Aloysius Parish for many years, where all of his children were baptized.

Later, Don and his family moved to the south hill and were members of St. Augustine Parish for the last 24 years.

For many years he enjoyed a men’s church group that would meet for Mass and out to breakfast once a week.

Don worked for Kaiser Aluminum for a short time and then went to work for the railroad.

He began his career working for the Great Northern Railroad, later the Burlington Northern, and finally Amtrak.

He was a brakeman/ conductor and had a true passion for trains.

Don did enjoy some gardening.

He loved to play cards, poker and pinochle, the latter was his favorite.

He taught his children to play at a very young age, so there would always be enough players around to get a game started.

He loved to watch football and didn’t matter if it was the pros or a college game he would watch it.

He was a Seahawks fan even when it wasn’t that popular to be one.

Don was a caregiver for many years for his mother and grandchildren.

He had a special connection with everyone.

He will be loved forever and missed by all.
