Syracuse sets mark in OT win over Duke

Jerami Grant scored eight points in overtime to finish with a career-high 24 and Jim Boeheim’s No. 2 Syracuse Orange (21-0, 8-0 Atlantic Coast Conference) stayed unbeaten, earning a 91-89 win over No. 17 Duke (17-5, 6-3) on Saturday in Syracuse, N.Y.

C.J. Fair scored a career-best 28 points as Syracuse set a school record for consecutive wins to start a season.

(5) San Diego State 65, Colorado State 56: Coach Steve Fisher won his 300th game at San Diego State when Xavier Thames scored 24 points and Winston Shepard 17 to lead the Aztecs (19-1, 8-0 Mountain West) over the Rams (12-10, 3-6) in San Diego.

(25) Texas 81, (6) Kansas 69: Isaiah Taylor scored 23 points, Jonathan Holmes had 22 and the Longhorns (17-4, 6-2) held the Big 12’s best shooting team to 39 percent shooting, beating the visiting Jayhawks (16-5, 7-1) for their sixth straight win.

Georgetown 64, (7) Michigan State 60: Markel Starks scored 16 points and the Hoyas (12-9) ended a five-game losing streak with a victory over the Spartans (19-3) in the late-season nonconference game at Madison Square Garden in New York.

Baylor 76, (8) Oklahoma State 70: Brady Heslip scored a season-high 20 points to help the Bears (14-7, 2-6 Big 12) beat the Cowboys (16-5, 4-4) in Stillwater, Okla., to end a five-game losing streak. Baylor shot 52 percent from the field.

(24) Ohio State 59, (14) Wisconsin 58: Aaron Craft scored all seven of his points in the final 4 minutes, LaQuinton Ross added 13 for the game, and the Buckeyes (17-5, 4-5 Big Ten) handed the Badgers (17-5, 4-5) their third straight home loss at Madison, Wis.

(16) Iowa State 81, (23) Oklahoma 75: Sophomore Georges Niang scored a career-high 27 points and the Cyclones (16-4, 4-4 Big 12) held off the Sooners (17-5, 6-3) in Ames, Iowa. Melvin Ejim had 22 points with 16 boards for his 28th double-double of the season for the winners.

Saint Joseph’s 73, (21) Massachusetts 68: Halil Kanacevic had 18 points and the Hawks (15-6, 5-2 Atlantic 10) broke a late tie to beat the Minutemen (17-4, 4-3) in Philadelphia. Saint Joseph’s hit five free throws after UMass tied it at 68-all in the final minute.

SMU 87, (22) Memphis 72: In Dallas, Nic Moore had 14 points and 10 assists, and the Mustangs (17-5, 6-3 American Athletic) handed the Tigers (16-5, 6-3) their first conference road loss in two years.
