Hired The Cleveland Browns hired Kyle Shanahan as offensive coordinator Monday. Shanahan has been a coordinator for six seasons, including the last four with his father, Mike, in Washington. Both were fired Dec. 30 after a 3-13 season.

Shot Hartford, Conn., police say Alexander Bradley, who alleges he was shot in the face by former New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez last February, was shot again in a dispute over money. The incident occurred Sunday at a nightclub. Alexander was charged with criminal possession of a firearm, criminal use of a firearm and other crimes for his role in the altercation.

Sidelined Tampa Bay Rays right-hander Jeremy Hellickson underwent surgery on his pitching elbow and is expected to miss the first six to eight weeks of the season. The 2011 A.L. Rookie of the Year went 12-10 with a career-high 5.17 ERA in 31 starts last season.

Agreed Third baseman David Freese and reliever Kevin Jepsen reached arbitration deals with the Los Angeles Angels. Freese, acquired from St. Louis this offseason, will make $5.05 million in his first season with the Angels. Jepsen will make $1,462,500 this year after pitching in 45 games for Los Angeles last season. The Angels also agreed to a minor-league contract with veteran infielder Chad Tracy.

Dismissed Oklahoma State dismissed freshman guard Stevie Clark from the basketball team. Clark has been arrested twice since the start of 2014, most recently for outraging public decency. He averaged 5.3 points and 2.7 assists per game.

Signed The Clippers signed guard Sasha Vujacic to a 10-day contract. Vujacic, who won two titles with the Lakers, has career averages of 5.6 points, 1.9 rebounds and 1.3 assists during his seven years in the NBA. He most recently played for a Turkish team the last two seasons

Re-signed Skipper Jimmy Spithill re-signed with two-time America’s Cup champion Oracle Team USA. Spithill is looking forward to the chance to win the Auld Mug a third straight time with San Francisco-based Oracle. In 2010, Spithill, then 30, became the youngest skipper to win the cup.

Traded The Montreal Canadiens traded defenseman Raphael Diaz to the Vancouver Canucks for forward Dale Weise. Diaz had 11 assists and 12 penalty minutes in 46 games for the Canadiens this season. In 162 career games, Weise has 10 goals, 16 assists and 185 penalty minutes.
