Rogers scores 71-53 upset over Mead

The Rogers boys basketball team got contributions all over the court as they upset the visiting Mead Panthers 71-53 in Greater Spokane League play Tuesday.

Melik Hampton scored a game-high 20 points, adding 16 rebounds and two blocked shots. Robert Rucker followed with 19 points, making five 3-pointers, and KJ Hassett added 15 points for the Pirates (5-12, 5-10).

Rogers opened a 38-28 lead by halftime and never backed down.

Max Hess and Thomas Kautzman led Mead (10-7, 9-6) with 14 and 12 points, respectively.

Central Valley 53, Lewis and Clark 42: Senior post Beau Byus had his best game of the season to lead the visiting Bears (14-2, 14-1) over the Tigers (4-13, 3-12). Byus had 15 points and eight rebounds and teammate Adam Chamberlain added 18 points. Isaiah Hernandez led LC with 10 points.

Shadle Park 82, Mt. Spokane 52: Four Highlanders (6-10, 6-9) reached double-figure scoring at Mt. Spokane (5-12, 3-12). Skyler Kelley led Shadle with 19 points, N’Keil Nelson scored 14, Eric Cooper had 12 and Andreas Brown added 11. Stu Stiles led Mt. Spokane with 17 points and Jacob Krantz had 15.

Gonzaga Prep 65, University 23: The visiting Bullpups (14-3, 13-2) won for an 11th straight time, jumping out to a 41-14 lead by halftime. Reed Hopkins hit six 3-pointers to lead G-Prep with 20 points. U-Hi (9-8, 7-8) made just six field goals.

Ferris 78, North Central 49: The visiting Saxons (15-2, 13-2) opened a 40-29 lead by halftime. Jared Christy had a career-high 16 points and he also had 11 rebounds. Quinn Zerba led NC (2-15, 2-13) with 15 points.
