Food stamps abused

I suppose I should be happy the farm bill has passed, but it amazes me that a bill that is 80 percent welfare and 20 percent agriculture is even called a farm bill. The fact that it is 50 percent more costly than the last farm bill is also scant cause for celebration.

I’m all in favor of helping those who really need help, but this food stamp monstrosity is out of hand and needs to be reined in. Yesterday, I was in the checkout line at the supermarket and the very overweight lady ahead of me purchased three plastic bottles of soda and two cartons of Ben and Jerry’s premium ice cream, nothing else, and paid for it with her food stamp card.

What is wrong with our elected representatives that they allow this type of abuse to continue?
